A quick Q&A:
Can I buy your artwork?
Yes, you can buy both my dragons and my mini worlds! I can let you know if I have one you’ve seen on my site, and how much if so.
Do you do commissions?
Yes, but as I work full time, I’m not always able to do them, or it might take a while, so if time is short, let me know upfront. I also don’t do any artwork based on political, social issues (perceived or otherwise), real or fictional figures (apart from my own discretion). I also reserve the right to deny any request for any reason at any time. This also means that if you had wanted a “chief dragon” and I was either unhappy with the outcome, or found I couldn’t make it work partway into the process, I would cancel the commission. Although, based on the complexity of the request, I would let you know the probability beforehand of success, as well as keep you updated with any delays and or issues along the way. Depending on the type of commission I might require a deposit of one (1) quarter of the total amount. If however I would be unable to finish a commission, I’d return your deposit. Should you cancel the commission, depending on how far into the work I am, I may choose to deduct the cost(s) of materials.
How do I make a request for a dragon?
If you’ve seen a dragon that you like, I might still have it, in which case I’ll let you know how much it is along with shipping costs, etc. Or, if you want one made from scratch, I need to know these things:
1-3 colors. Two (2) colors is standard, as one is very plain but simple, and three at most as I’ll often add it as a stripe down the sides or the back or some such, it really depends. I’m also very limited to the colors I can use, I don’t have them all with the paper I use, so I might not be able to do the colors you want, and in some cases, the colors I have won’t work well together, in which case I’ll let you know.
Standing, on all fours, or flying (this needs to be hung from the ceiling or high place.
Theme/design. This needs to be very basic, like “warrior dragon with sword” you can request the type of sword for instance, and I’ll see what I can find. Otherwise if you know the type of feel you’re going for, that will help too. For instance to get the feel for a Samurai dragon would be very different than Knight dragon.
What type of person is this for? As there are slight differences I might do if it’s for a guy or a girl, and about how old they are. These differences might not be noticeable overall, but could affect the feel, but also help when I’m making something.
Addons. Things like wings (big or small) spikes, quills, etc. The theme or design of the dragon can override some of these choices, depending on the dragon, in which case I’ll let you know.
Now you don’t have to know all of these things in order to request a dragon, it just helps me get into the mindset of what you’re wanting. I want you to be happy with the piece I make, and the closer I am to knowing what you want the happier we’ll both be. If you like a few of my dragons, I can use those to base yours on too.
Do you ship internationally? How much is shipping?
At this time, I’ll only ship within the US. I also will not ship my dragons in the summer, unless it’s unseasonably cool, as the temperatures on delivery trucks will easily pass 100F, and my dragons do not do well in temperatures over 85-90F. In most cases I could ship my mini worlds any time of the year. The shipping costs are different with each piece, and I’ll let you know once completed the exact amount, as I won’t know what size box the dragon will fit in until I finish it.
Do you take returns/exchanges?
Overall, I do not except returns. In the case of my dragons, if there was damage due to shipping, I can have you send it back for repair, of which I’ll cover the return shipping costs. The largest issue you’re likely to see is a small piece might have been broken off, such as a feather, or a spike. One thing that’s nice about my dragons is fixing them is quite simple, such as using a tiny amount of super or hot glue will often fix small damages. It’s in these small cases that I’ll not take a return for repair, but do what I can to instruct you on how you can fix it if need be.
I do not take returns on the mini worlds unless it arrived broken. I’ll do my best to make sure it gets to you in one piece, but on the chance that you hear broken glass inside, contact me and I’ll instruct you on how to send it back.
Note that there are some instances where I will advise not to ship/buy this dragon, unless at a craft show, as it might be too delegate to ship, in which case I will let you know upfront. If however you would still want it shipped, you’ll assume the risks of any damages that might occur through shipping.
Are these toys/for kids?
NO! These are not suited for kids to be played with, as they are delicate, often have sharp claws and other parts, and can’t be easily fixed if bent or distorted. Something else to keep in mind, from what I’ve been told is that most cats tend to hate my dragons with a passion. So just be aware that if you have cats, they might aggressively go after or react to the dragon(s).
How do I care for my dragon?
Be sure to keep the dragon away from fire/water, and direct sunlight. These are meant to be indoors, and display pieces for a desk or shelf. About once a month, a very light dusting is recommended, just simply use either a feather duster, or a paper towel and very, very lightly wipe away any dust following from top to bottom. In some simple cases blowing a bit of air on the dust will be enough to keep it clean. Be sure and keep them out of extreme heat, as 90F+, some of the glue will start to soften a bit, and they will begin to fall over, mainly in the neck. Should this happen, it’s a simple fix, just get it back into a cooler room, and move the neck or body parts back to where they were before, after a short bit it should hold and be fine. Also be careful if you live near the ocean, as extreme humidity can cause the scales to lift/curl upwards, from the parts that aren’t directly glued down near the ends.
Apart from that, my dragons will last for a long, long time if properly looked after. I’ve had some of my older ones for over ten years now, and they still look just as if I had made them yesterday.
Can I put fish in the mini world?
NO! The glue and other things I use for the mini worlds are likely to kill the fish and any other animal you try and keep in there. Also the sizes are not right for any type of fish. These are meant purely for desktops and shelves and are not toys, or for animal habitation.
